It works for me. I was put on one recently for pain and the appetite came right with it. I stagger my Magace also so I don't get used to it. Eight weeks of radiation and chemo. Follow up with four rounds of Carbo and Alimta. December CT scan shows all clear. April CT scan shows all clear. July had several x-rays taken at the chiropractor for shoulder pain. Took them to the onc and nothing suspicious noted. See them again in Oct. October didn't work out. Pain in the left shoulder continued to worsen and lymph nodes in the supraclavical swelled so I called the onc and they bumped the regular scan up to September 19 and we went for the results on the 24th.
The tumor is back and the spread is extensive. Try targeting chemos that may work and then on to clinical trials. These would give me about a year or so if the cancer responds.
Do no treatment and let nature take its course. This will give me six months give or take. Live it up everyone! Nov 29, - began chemo with Gemzar January 7, - ended chemo, began hospice March 17, - lost my best friend.
My husband was an "eating machine" when he was on steroids for Folfirinox treatments!!! Gave him lots of energy too! Can raise blood sugar if diabetic so we added metformin for that. June started Folfirinox CT scan after 6 treatments shows cancer is stable with slight shrinkage to studding on abdominal wall.
Going for 6 more treatments then another CT. After 12 treatments the CT shows folfirinox no longer working. Cancer has grown and spread more in lymph nodes in chest.
Bone scan on Jan 24th shows mets to bones. Since January been having thoracentisis for fluid around the lungs in addition to the paracentisis for ascites.
Went to Emergency Feb. Started 1st of 5 radiation treatments for acute spinal cord compression. Also diagnosed with blood infection, iv antibiotics started and blood cultures done.
No improvement from radiation treatments. Paralyzed from waist down. Blood cultures identify bacteria, antibiotic is correct according to infection specialist but after 10 days still septic. Doctors meet with us and state they have no other treatment available and hubby's health is too poor for a clinical trial Feb.
My hubby is on Metaclopramide, which enhances his appetite - and does not have the side effecct of hiccups that steroids does! Husband age 50 diagnosed with Stage IV pan cancer with mets to liver.
Chemo break June - March Back on Folfirinox for 4 treatments, then cancelled. CT Scan, ultrasound, biopsy only confirm cancer is back but no treatment recommended.
Another scan in a week. September 2 weeks in hosp with blood infection. November - at home, me at home full time. Slow decline til Nov 20 when admitted to palliative care. They have been giving my mom decadron I believe during her chemo treatments. She is getting Gemzar 2x a week and she gets decadron with it. She is also gettting radiation 5 times a week.
The decadron definitely increases her appetite. She said she is always hungry!! She came off Folfirinox and that totally killed her appetite so we are do glad it is back. Hi my dad is also on steroids for this and to try giv him a boost. He is taking dexamethasone 8mg a day excuse my spelling. First time they didn't work but they seem to be ok now. Like if u take 2 tabs aday take one for 2 to 3 days then half for 2days or so hope they work xxx. Dec jaundice stent in. Lso my dad has a liquid drink called procal shot.
It is only a little bit of liquid to drink but has many calories in it. Were as he was drinking ensure but to much liquid and not as many calories. The doctor prescribed the procal shot on prescrition.
